If your LG front-load or top-load washer shows an IE or 1E error code, it usually means the washer is not filling with water the right way. In simple words, the washer is asking for water, but it is either not getting enough water fast enough or it does not sense the water correctly.

Common reasons this happens:
- Hot or cold water valve is not fully open
- Water hose is kinked or bent
- Inlet screen is clogged
- Water pressure is too low
- Water inlet valve is failing
- Pressure sensor, wiring, or control board issue

Things you can check first:
✓ Make sure both hot and cold water valves are fully open
✓ Check that the hoses are not bent, pinched, or crushed
✓ Make sure water is coming to the washer normally
✓ If you are comfortable, turn off the water, remove the hoses, and check the small inlet screens for dirt or buildup

You should call a technician if the water supply looks fine but the error keeps coming back. It is also a good idea to call if the washer fills very slowly, only fills with hot or cold water, or stops in the middle of the cycle with the same code. At that point, the washer usually needs testing to find out if the problem is the valve, pressure system, wiring, or control board.

For most models, labor is around $140 on average, depending on the model and how much work is needed. Parts can vary by model, but a water inlet valve or pressure-related part is often around $120–$170.
